CH...not with a 3.7 GPA can she be so stupid as to waste her time and money. It's an ethnic internship for ETHNICS. No **** they didn't except her. Again, the privilege that allows white people to feel that their entitled to everything, but will tell minorities they don't get accepted here or there because they're "not good enough" and to deal with it.

Even her background doesn't qualify her as a African American, Latino or a Native American. That's two things that disqualifies her.

That's an issue that's easily resolved by applying elsewhere. Ethnics grants and internships are designed to give minorities a chance where others are often propped in favor of the majoriy ergo whites.

Like I explained already, it's already difficult enough to get Native Americans into college, let alone graduate and looking for internships/jobs (and this isn't even touching African-Americans and Latinos yet) Why should a white girl like her get the same opportunity at the foundation that's trying to give minorities more opportunities first? There's plenty of opportunities out there for a girl like her (she's just too lazy and selfish to realize it's not all about her).

I understand why these are put in place but in all fairness, I do find it ridiculously hard to find scholarships I qualify for.

I don't make a lot of money and there are moments where I wish I could qualify for a few more internships / bursaries, generally I only get a bit of an advantage when the odd LGBT member grant is out.

All things aside, she shouldn't sue. She doesn't meet the requirements and therefore shouldn't apply.

Legally, she has a case since she was turned away for a reason that is directly against their code.

Morally, who the **** cares? She has a 3.7 GPA, nothing extraordinary, and there are plenty of other schools to apply to.

Sure they SHOULD be, but we all know that it doesn't always go that way. Or have you never heard of Legacy Admissions?

When the same people that are discriminating against you are the ones on the admission board/hiring panel/judicial bench, do you really have a chance?

Black women in America are the most educated group, but remain the most under-represented in many facets. Is that supposed to be coincidental?

And I'm guessing we don't need to discuss the disparities in education in predominantly white neighborhoods vs. predominantly minority ones.

As far as numbers go, the white "majority" is declining pretty rapidly, but we are not seeing the same kind of exponential growth in other areas. Because the people in power make sure that doesn't happen.

Equality isn't achieved by compensating inequality with more inequality. This type of thing isn't right either.

In fact, history has shown us that by compensating inequality with more inequality, you only generate more hatred and a bigger emotional gap between two parties. It only drives everyone further apart.


In reality though, this case is really not a big deal. So she has been mildly discriminated against one time. I'm sure she'll get over it. I simply don't like the reasoning behind why this is supposed to be okay.
