Just after 10 p.m. lightning from storms in the area caused officials to suspend the Beyonce concert for at least an hour on Tuesday night. Carter-Finley Stadium is being evacuated and people are being sent to PNC Arena.
“As of right now we are in a delay. The plan is Beyonce plans to return. Please seek shelter,” NC State officials said on Twitter.
As of 9:45 p.m. traffic is backed up on Edwards Mill Road, Wade Avenue and I-40 with Beyonce concert-goers still unable to get to Carter-Finley Stadium.
Authorities are having to keep people from parking along the interstate and streets since the concert was set to begin with an opening act around 7:30 p.m. Beyonce took the stage at about 9:10, according to reports.
According to NC State Police, who are in charge of traffic at the event, the main traffic problem is Edwards Mill Road and that parking in that area is now full. However, parking at an East parking lot near Blue Ridge Road is available, however, that area is some distance from where traffic is approaching on Edwards Mill.
My city lmao. One of my friends was in traffic till like 9.
Friends were face timing me from the arena. It's a mess. The show should be going again now though.
