Discussion: What Happened To #BlackExcellence?

I remember a year ago when Empire was huge, the bandwagon stans would hashtag BlackExcellence when the ratings came out. Or when Beyoncé slayed something or when Rihanna slayed something.

Now a year later since Empire cooled off the bandwagon stans are gone and black is suddenly no longer excellent. I see some of you all posting #BlackExcellence when Beyoncé slays something, but moments later black Rihanna gets dragged for something... And vice versa.

Black people, why do we drag each other down? Is #BlackExcellence really still a thing? Or has it become a selective concept only when your fave slays?

not really double standards white people are already celebrated even for things that poc/black people have been doing for years. you see white people a lot in the media. it was created by black people it's something to celebrate the achievements of black people that aren't acknowledged. it's like a "hey if our achievements aren't being acknowledged let;s celebrate our people and acknowledge our excelence and uplift each other".

Because white people have not been systematically oppressed and thus have no need to shine more of a spotlight on themselves when everyone else already does it for them?

#Blackexcellence didn't go anywhere just because the hashtag may not be as heavily used here. Just because you don't see the hashtag doesn't mean the sentiment doesn't exist.
