Taylor Swift makes great pop music but she has no impact on pop music at all.

Even Paula Abdul and Britney could dance their asses off in their prime.

I don't think it's fair to group Shawn with Selena and Charlie. He's got a great voice. I don't even like Charlie but I don't think he belongs there either.

Taylor is a great lyricist and she's written many of her hits all by herself, she's more talented than any of her peers

I think Taylor isn't as respected as a songwriter by the GP as she could be because of her fame, and her Pop hits not exactly demonstrating what she's capable of. A Billboard writer said the same thing.

But that's what is sad about nowadays, you don't often see Pop hits with thought provoking, above average lyrical content. It's all pretty accessible and relatable. It's no coincidence that Taylor's best lyrics are her album tracks and Country singles.

But this is not just about "having a good voice" or "writing good lyrics"

We're talking about artists with exceptional talent, uniqueness and creativity. Go read what Cyndi said. Gaga was the last star that truly thought outside the box and brought something new to the table.

No matter how "good" Taylor Swift is, she's still under the "cute singer-songwriter with a guitar" category and we've had the same prototypes like 40 years ago. There's nothing creative about her lyrics, chords, instrumentations, or presentation skills.
