Go to Harlem or bedstuy ideally. It's really gentrifier, and can we stop using the word ghetto to describe neighborhoods with black residents, it's really cringeworthy. But Uhmm ants if your budget is 2k then you're basically broke because bedstuy Harlem rent is like $1,800 a month for a one bedroom for a decent place so imagine what you'll be playing. Honestly Harlem/ Washington Heights is ideal. Then Brooklyn. Bedstuy/ Crown Heights. If you have the money then downtown Brooklyn. If you want to spend a nice coin then the city.

I say, if you have these views don't even come to NYC, its going to be very hard to avoid people from diffrent races, backgrounds, lifestyles, etc. when you're traveling.

Even the ghettos in any borough are not as bad. I'm not saying you have to go there but people still carry these old stigmas from the 70's and ****. You can explore or walk through other places than Manhattan/gentrified Brooklyn and you'll be alright as a vistor/tourist. There's decent places in every borough.
