i like bonnie and i like her writing style but she needs to have an intervention or something and move the **** on from teenage dream already. it wouldn't have happened without katy and everyone knows this. she literally brings the song up in every interview she does (which isn't many since nobody cares to interview her). she can't evolve as a songwriter if she keeps holding onto the past and trying to replicate that one (honestly mediocre) pop song. wasted youth is clearly her attempt at a teenage dream 2.0 in terms of lyrical content, vibe and visual.

You know why they signed her known as damaged goods in the industry, having a plan no other label believed in? Capitol's previous #1 album was McHammer - Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em (1990) and they couldn't afford to celebrate 20 years of no having seen a proper #1 album. They had to try something radical, something no other label would dare by trying out what would happen if she does her thing. TD album went #1 just in time to celebrate for proper #1 album in 20 years.
