No to the bolded part. Religion is a philosophical following. Reason and logic are such important parts of theology that seminarians are required to have courses in philosophy while studying, or even a philosophy degree prior to studying theology. You cannot be a priest unless you have a college degree in Philosophy and a Masters degree in Theology. I see so many atheists like to state that religion is illogical. Quite the reverse.

There are bad people, belonging to different religions, to no religion or among atheists. Religion can elicit empathy and love and deeds of great kindness, it can also call forth hatred and cruelty. But it is because there have been more good people, many of them inspired by the moral force of religion that our civilization has survived. The overwhelming effects of religion is good, It's just unfortunate that only the bad make the news.
