**** you, the 'food chain' excuse is so old Humans in general are so ignorant, we are far more intelligent than animals, animals in the wild kill because it is second nature to them. They don't even think about what they are doing, people willingly kill animals for meat, fur, leather etc and they don't really care about what happens to the animal. I saw a video of an animal being skinned alive for its fur before. It was alive in agony after its skin was removed, so revolting . Some highly ignorant people claim that animals are not capable of feeling pain because they do not possess the intelligence in order to do so, it is obvious they do feel pain.

I don't think anybody believes animals don't feel pain--everything alive (not trees and plants etc but you know what I mean) feels pain, it's an involuntary reaction from the brain. I think they mean that animals can't be emotionally sad or down, which is more arguable. It's hard to split a line between being sad over something minor, which is more human, or being sad over a major thing like a parent having its child taken away, which is more instinctual and animalistic. Once again a brain reaction, rather than a personal doing.

At the same time I don't agree with peta, people have the right to do whatever they want as long as it is legal. I'm a strict Vegetarian (I don't eat anything that results in animal slaughter), but I don't force my views on other people nor do I expect others to agree with my views.

I agree... I don't support PETA because of how annoying and forceful they are, but I support their basic principles. I'm no veggie, but I hate fur and torturing animals.
