What did Madonna bring to the table that was new or iconic, musically? You all have such a narrow view of artistry. Artistry is not just writing perceived "deep" music. What Whitney brought to songs, none of her contemporaries could do, including Madonna who couldn't even find the key on songs that weren't even locked in vocal acrobatics.
