Welcome castaways to your 2nd results show! Below will be the rates of each entry from all four judges. You were all rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Your average score will be combined into a tribe average which will determine which tribe is losing a member,
After I reveal the scores, I will post the final results which will include how you ranked on your tribe, against all castaways, and finally the overall tribe rankings this round.
The lowest averaging tribe will be headed to Tribal Council where they will vote off one member who will become the first eliminated player of the season.
Note:
Opium is eliminated from the competition so you will not see his score below nor will it be averaged into his tribe this round. I will formally eliminate him after this.
Mario has officially withdrawn from the panel but he hasn't judged anything so it's still going to be the same as it has been thus far.
Yvess had a personal issue going on but he will be back next round and the rounds after that.
With that said, here are the scores...
Tribe Maji Maji
1. Navyofbadgals - The Corrs - Runaway
Quote:
Dylan - 6 - This isn't a TOTAL miss since there are lines about running away, but even those lines are just about wishing rather than doing. Where this song goes wrong is with the lines "i have run away with you" right after she announces they're going to be intimate. It's not meant in a literal way here... She means they're going to get lost in each other's lust rather than actually pack up and get away. I see why you sent this but it doesn't fit as well from a deeper context than it does a more surface level one.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - Really beautiful song. Unfortunately, the song is not about actually running away with her lover. It’s more metaphorical, she would run away with this guy who she is currently developing feelings for.
Quote:
Element – 8 – Definitely nails the romantic aspect of the song, but I think it is a bit more metaphorical than we hoped for.
2. URBAN - Frank Sinatra - Come Fly With Me
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - He's definitely talking about running away from a literal level, but it's not necessarily with a lover in my opinion. It seems more like he's being coy and inviting a girl to let him show her the good life rather than running off to be alone with his true love. It's definitely a decent entry but it just seems a lot more flirtatious than it does romantically involved when I compare it to other entries. It's just not as deep as other song submitted though it's not bad by any means.
Quote:
Brian - 7.5 - Nice choice, but the song isn’t about literally running away with his lover, but more of an invitation, sort of flirtatious. Good job though!
Quote:
Element – 7.5 – I think that you did a good job in the travel aspect of the theme, but the romantic aspect seems to be a reach. Yes, he is flirting, but there is just a bit of magic and passion missing from this entry.
3. wesleywalrus - Evanescence - Anywhere
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - This song makes it clear that they are literally packing a bag and running away together. A lot of songs this round leave a little ambiguity in their delivery that makes their song fail in comparison to songs like this. You definitely understood the theme so here's to a well done job by you!
Quote:
Brian - 10 - She’s literally telling her lover to run away with her to be together. Great job!
Quote:
Element – 9.5 – Great choice! A bit ambiguous at times, but the overall message is really strong.
4. prezli - Anouk - Run Away Together
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - Another song that's both deep in romance and focused on literally getting away together. It's also a pretty good song just in general so thanks for that! Great pick.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - The song is about running away with her lover, so good job. But it seems like the love isn’t reciprocated, and she’s suggesting running away to fix a relationship instead of to be together.
Quote:
Element – 9.5 – Fantastic find! My only complaint is that it seems a bit metaphorical at times.
5. Vulnicura - Faith Hill - Let's Go To Vegas
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - This one may be a little mixed in perception but I actually really like it. You can tell it's more than a drunken Vegas hitch. These two are clearly lovers that are running off to get married and share some of those viva las vegas good times together. I also like how it's so specific about where they're running away because it makes you stand out this round. Awesome improvement.
Quote:
Brian - 7.5 - She’s suggesting a lover (presumably) to run away to Vegas, but it’s more about getting hitched, vs. running away to spend quality time together. Good job though!
Quote:
Element – 10 – Great selection that hits both the romantic aspect and the runaway aspect.
6. Lucky#17 - Bosson - Run Away With You
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - This is definitely about deep romance which makes it a good fit. My only issue is it's a little more about wanting than actually doing. Songs that actually lay out a plan in some shape or form were better off this round than those that didn't. However, it's still a good pick overall.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Song is about running away, but it’s more wishful thinking than literal. Good job though!
Quote:
Element – 10 – Another strong entry on this tribe! This song really emphasizes romance, and also wanting to escape the stresses of normal life.
7. thecptz - Galantis - Runaway (U&I)
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - This is a dope track but it's not really the BEST option for this round. The dance production makes it a whole lot less romantic on top of the fact the lyrics seem about a summer fling rather than someone one is deeply in love with. It's just missing that fuzzy feeling. However, still an okay pick.
Quote:
Brian - 7.5 - Good choice, the song is about running away, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem like he’s talking to a lover, rather someone he has feelings for.
Quote:
Element – 6 – I was left very unimpressed with this entry. There is no romantic feeling at all involved, and I think while the theme is discussed, it just skirts around the edges.
8. Scene. - Jo Dee Messina - Heads Carolina, Tails California
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - I knew the country genre would come in handy this round. It's definitely about running away with someone so there's not much more explanation to give you. I also love how it gives options rather than just stating "let's run away". It really made you stand out.
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Perfect choice! It isn’t metaphorical, it isn’t wishful thinking, he’s telling his lover they’re going to run away together. Great job.
Quote:
Element – 8 – Definitely a step up from last week. This was a fair entry, but I really don’t feel a romantic connection here. While it is IMPLIED that it is about a significant other, it just doesn’t hit that next level.
Tribe Sahrondo
1. gotintoririfever1 - Jason Mraz - Long Drive
Quote:
Dylan - 8.5 - This is definitely a step up from last round. Sure, it's not necessarily talking about packing a bag for a romantic trip but it's definitely about two lovers deciding to go off into a private place and spend a little more time together, which sort of coincides with the example this round. I like it!
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Great choice! However what’s stopping me from giving it a higher score is that instead of running away he’s simply suggesting taking a longer route for more alone time. Good job though!
Quote:
Element – 8.5 – This is a really cool choice! I think it is a solid balance of romance and running away.
2. Remmy - We The Kings - Check Yes Juliet
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - I thought this song would be an easy 10 but it' actually not as detailed as some other songs. Regardless, it's still a great pick for this round being about two teens running off together to escape whatever problems they have with her parents or whatever. Maybe not the most detailed lyrically, but another nice choice for you this season.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - The song isn’t as explicit as some others about literally running away with a lover, but good job!
Quote:
Element – 8.5 – Another strong selection from you, Remmy. I feel like my only major complaint is that it seems too metaphorical at times.
3. theREALslimSHADY - Norah Jones - Come Away With Me
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - I think this song is about running away with a lover so this time, your issue isn't the topic of the song. It's that the lyrics are a little ridiculously short for me to give this any higher of a score. Still, I love the romantic feel and think its a pretty solid entry.
Quote:
Brian - 7.5 - Nice job, however it isn’t as direct as other songs about running away with a lover. Not too much lyrics.
Quote:
Element – 9 – Cute and succinct. I think it captures the theme well.
4. ririfan21 - Boys Like Girls - The Great Escape
Quote:
Dylan - 5.5 - This one looks good from the title but not by the lyrics. It's more so about letting loose and having fun one more night without caring what others think than it is actually running away. They're leaving town later but it seems like tonight, its time to get wasted. And there's also no clear indication of a romance so the only points I can give you are from the chorus' idea of "escaping".
Quote:
Brian - 5 - I understand why you thought this song would fit the category, but unfortunately, it doesn’t mention running away with a lover at all.
Quote:
Element – 4 – Much too metaphorical and nothing here shows a focus on a romantic scenario.
5. rl231 - Taylor Swift - Love Story
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - This one is tough because she refers to the idea of running away but for the most part, I've always associated this song more with forbidden love than running off. I just think the idea of forbidden love overpowers the more minor theme of running away here. Not bad for a third choice but hopefully you can snatch your first choice at some point this season.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - She briefly mentions running, but it’s more metaphorical and the song is overall more about falling in love than running away with an existing lover. Good job though.
Quote:
Element – 10 – A perfect song choice for this round! It sets up the romantic relationship perfectly, establishes the woes of regular society, and takes the narrator on a physical journey away with her lover. Bravo.
6. Bloomers - Tim McGraw - Two Lanes of Freedom
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - This isn't as fulfilling as others when it comes to details but it fits the whole idea of driving off with a lover with no real destination in mind. Spontaneous alone time. I like it.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - While not explicitly about running away, he’s driving without a destination with his lover so it fits the theme in a different manner. Nice job!
Quote:
Element – 9.5 – This is a really great selection! I love the descriptive language that he uses in order to emphasize how beautiful the natural setting is as their romantic escape.
7. Prismatic - Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
Quote:
Dylan - 6 - I see glimmers of my theme somewhere in here but to me this song has always been more about being with a lover that makes you feel young than anything else. Sure, there's lines about how they went to Cali but there's nothing to back that trip up as "running away" rather than just something the two did at one point. I needed more about getting away from outside distractions for this to fit better.
Quote:
Brian - 6.5 - The song isn’t really about running away at all, besides the line “let’s run away and don’t ever look back,” which is more metaphorical than literal. Good job though.
Quote:
Element – 7.5 – This track is a modern classic love song, so great job hitting the romantic aspect. However, the only part of this song that really discusses a physical escape is the second verse. The rest of the track is more metaphorical and focused on generic feelings of love and passion.

Tribe Kayntaya
1. Xedretinz Lododnz - Big & Rich - Run Away With You
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - This is a pretty good song. I like that it actually deals with running away to get away from distractions rather than just for the heck of it. Nice pick. I think you should be thankful you changed your choice this round.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - What’s stopping me from giving it a 10 is that it seems more about wishful thinking, running away to save his relationship. Great job!
Quote:
Element – 9 – I’m really impressed by how well this song sets the scene of a romantic relationship that is plagued by the drama and exhaustion of the day-to-day experience. I think it is a little metaphorical at times, but for the most part, this is a strong choice. Great job!
2. holyground - Arctic Monkeys - Stop the World I Wanna Get Off With You
Quote:
Dylan - 5.5 - I get where you got the idea of this fitting since it does mention him wanting to get this person alone.... but then he mentions they're always on their own. So, I think this song is actually about him wanting her to stop being nomadic and be with him. They'll spend time together, sure. But they won't be running away together. Chaos will end. But they won't be running away from it. That;s your issue.
Quote:
Brian - 6.5 - Unfortunately, this song isn’t really about running away with a lover. In fact, it seems to be about wanting to stop the mayhem of life and settle down with a lover.
Quote:
Element – 6.5 – Hmmm. This one is interesting. I think that it definitely touches on the theme of pausing everything in real life and taking a break. However, the romantic connections and “runaway” connections are on the weaker side.
3. Sebas - Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - This was an obviously popular choice this round but I decided not tot use it as an example regardless because while it's fitting, it's not the best option out there. Clearly the song is about running away but part of me just feels it's a little too much about her wanting to run away with this guy rather than her actually laying out a plan. It feels a little more dream-like than reality. Still, a nice fit for the round and you were speedy quick in order to snatch it!
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - I know that this would be the most popular choice for this round. Unfortunately Dylan didn’t pick it as the example for a reason, while it definitely hits at running away, at times it’s a little more metaphorical (“I’d run away with you”). Obviously a good choice though!
4. Tom Vercetti - Dierk Bentley - The Woods
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - Such a good choice. They're running off for some alone time which was the standard for a good score this round. However, this actually mentions going into nature which I think everyone can associate with isolation and peace. Definitely an escape from reality with a lover. Awesome.
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Great job! It’s not metaphorical or wishful thinking, he’s telling his lover to run away with him into the woods to be alone from the outside world.
Quote:
Element – 10 – This is actually a fantastic entry. It perfectly lays out a romantic scene, specifically discusses leaving behind the real world and its distractions, and escaping to a physical location where they can be alone and enjoy each other. Great find!
5. Satan - Dave Matthews Band - You And Me
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - The opening verse definitely fully works for this round and would probably result in a 10 if the rest of the song did the same. The lyrics then talk about the kids and how far this relationship will go and while that's all dandy, it's not solely focused on running away. They could run away... and so much more. It almost looks TOO far ahead into the future for this round. Still, not a bad entry.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Good job! He mentions running away in the beginning, however the song is overall about the journey of the entire relationship.
Quote:
Element – 8.5 – I like this choice! I think it addresses the theme pretty well. The second half of the song definitely gets off track a bit, and seems to focus more on memories and applying lessons to the real world. But the first half is solid.
6. Speezy - DJ Antoine feat. Jay Sean - Weekend Love
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - Definitely fits the theme I assigned. Only issue is that it's not really a fuzzy feeling song. However, it's a total lyrical fit so that minimizes that small complaint. Another good entry from you.
Quote:
Brian - 9.5 - Another amazing entry! Reason I’m not giving it a 10 is because it’s not as romantic as some of the other choices, it seems like him and his lover are facing a little turbulence. Great job!
Quote:
Element – 7.5 – This track is a fair entry, but ultimately lacks a bit of romance and passion that is emphasized in the other songs.
7. Mirrorwriting - Carly Rae Jepsen - Let's Get Lost
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - I love this track. It's a solid fit. They'll spend some time off by themselves for the night instead of just going straight home. Its cute but not as intensely romantic and fuzzy as some other tracks.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Just like the other Carly song, it definitely hints at running away, however it’s a little more wishful thinking than actual planning like some of the other higher ranking choices. Great job though obviously!
Quote:
Element – 8.5 – A pretty solid choice! I think that it is a BIT metaphorical, but ultimately, it addresses the theme fairly well.
