Although they aren't the best TV brand anymore, I am very loyal to sony
Sony has the best picture quality of any of the tv brands , Samsung comes in 2#
I Have a 4K sony in my livingroom and a 4K Samsung in my bed and the Sony has better blacks
and more realistic contrast, where the samsung is more candy coated fake colors.
A 22" Toshiba TV/DVD combi, I really want a Samsung Smart TV as my TV's HDMI port has a broken HDMI cable in it and I cannot get it out, I really wanted to get myself a Blu-Ray player as well, but I don't know if I can put a 32" TV on my wall
opt for a 40 inch if you can, Samsung is good but the smart specs in the tv will get outdated over the years, Try to go for a Sony if you can afford it, the picture quality is the best.

I can never use other brands, i'm very particular with it. Mainly because samsung accepts all video formats - which means i can just plug in my USB and play videos/movies without any problems.And the interface for Plug-In menu is pretty sleek and it does not lag! LG, Philips, and Panasonic are the worst, sometimes they can't even play .mkv & .avi format. And when you plug in 2TB external HDD with ton amount of files, the menu tends to stuck.

Like you stated is why I have a sony and samsung in my house the top 2 brands in the game, and like I have stated the Sony has a better picture display, however the samsung has more input options for usb and etc
