Welcome castaways to your 1st results show! Below will be the rates of each entry from all four judges. You were all rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Your average score will be combined into a tribe average which will determine which tribe is losing a member,
After I reveal the scores, I will post the final results which will include how you ranked on your tribe, against all castaways, and finally the overall tribe rankings this round.
The lowest averaging tribe will be headed to Tribal Council where they will vote off one member who will become the first eliminated player of the season.
With that said, here are the scores...
Tribe Maji Maji
1. Navyofbadgals - The All-American Rejects - Gives You Hell
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - The problem with this one is while he's clearly better off without his ex, this is more of a "look at me now" type song. He's made it big so he looks at his ex and is mocking where she's at in her life compared to him rather than empowering himself.
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - This is my childhood! I love everything about this song. The lyrics totally showed how can someone be feisty after having a bad breakup. The chorus and the bridge is the highlight of this song and it fits our theme.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - Good song, definitely a "screw you" type of song, however it less a self-empowerment song than a "hope you're miserable!" song.
Quote:
Element - 7.5 – I think this a solid entry, and there are some great lines in the verses that hit the theme. However, in my opinion, the main part of the song has too much of a focus on wanting the ex to feel badly… not the narrator feeling independent.
2. URBAN - Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - Clearly an empowerment track about gaining happiness and freedom from a break-up instead of moping around. There's not much else to say but keep it up!
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - The real GAY anthem. What I love from this song is that it totally stood the test of time and I think the empowering chorus is the main reason for its immortality in my country's radio stations. The lyrics are on point and I'm waiting for that "F*ck you" moment type of lyrics but it's an old song so its kinda impossible. Great choice!
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Nice choice! She's standing strong and letting the world know she'll pull through this heartbreak, but there isn't as much of a "better alone" theme like some other choices.
Quote:
Element - 10 – This is an absolutely spot-on entry. Uplifting atmosphere, inspirational lyrics… it’s a true picture of someone refreshed and empowered!
3. wesleywalrus - Cher - Strong Enough
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - I feel like Cher is still a little too upset for this to be a better fit for the round. She's finally gained the strength to leave and move on to a better place but she's not totally set in this new mode either. She's sort of in between to me. However, the instrumental has a nice empowering feel to it so this is still a decent entry overall. Just not the best.
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - I'm actually not excited to see Cher this round but I've no choice so I need to face my phobia. Luckily, the song is very much fitting for this theme. I like that Cher was able to open her mouth and actually sang a wonderful chorus, guess that botox is real tough. Anyways, good job wesley!
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Good choice. Though it seems to teeter more on the "It's possible to live without you" side than the "I'm better off without you" one.
Quote:
Element - 8 – Good entry, especially in the choruses. I felt like the verses were a little hit or miss, but overall it worked well.
4. prezli - Rita Ora - Young, Single & Sexy
Quote:
Dylan - 8.5 - I think the bridge really saves this one from being just a decent entry. She's not letting her lover hold her back and is now free to go out and have fun with her friends. She's in a better position. Pretty good pick.
Quote:
Yvess - 9.5 - Whenever I see Rita Ora, prezli's avis pops up to my head and I swear it's kinda funny maybe it's because I got too used of prezli's shortlived participation on my MC with Rita as her artist. Anyways, this song has that ooomph factor that I was looking for. The lyrics played a huge part on convincing me to give this song a high score.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - What's making it a 9 instead of a 10 for me is that in the beginning it seems like she still wants him. Good job!
Quote:
Element - 9 – A really strong choice! The bridge really drove the message home for me, as well as how she said she was “smart” to be moving on. There was a lot of self-love here, which is what I was looking for.
5. Vulnicura - Blu Cantrell - Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)
Quote:
Dylan - 6 - I feel for you because the song you wanted was actually a nice fit. You just didn't claim it first. Problem with this song is while it scrapes the theme of not moping around... it's not necessarily saying she's so much happier without this person. She's more so just getting some petty revenge on him.
Quote:
Yvess - 7 - I'm not too sold with this song really hitting our theme. I checked its lyrics over and over but I don't really see a lot of the "screw you, im too fabulous" moment thing in here.'
Quote:
Brian - 7.5 - Love this song. She is saying goodbye to everything they built with no remorse, however the song is more vengeful than empowering/"I'm better off without you.
Quote:
Element - 5.5 – I love this song! However, while it does tackle the screw you aspect of the theme, it falls much better into a “revenge” kind of category. I don’t see much of Blu moving on as an independent person in this particular track.
6. Lucky#17 - Fleur East - Over Getting Over
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - This certainly fits but why is this song's tempo so weird?! I don't know if the audio I'm listening to is just pitched fast or what. However, the lyrics are a really good fit for the round. She's so longer moping and is instead having fun and looking good while doing it.
Quote:
Yvess - 8 - Fleur East is one of my fave girls tbh. I like this one personally but I'm not really able to feel the theme of this round in this song easily but the lyrics has pointed out some good points that fits the theme. Still, a good one.
Quote:
Brian - 9.5 - Hit the theme very well! There's the screw you aspect and the self-empowerment theme are there, but it's not as lyric-packed as other entries. By the way, this is probably the 8th worst song I've ever had the displeasure of hearing in my life, so this 9.5 is a little painful.
Quote:
Element - 9.5 – Definitely one of the strongest entries on this tribe! I love the emphasis on loving yourself, the heart moving on, and how she has stepped into a completely new frame of mind. You hit pretty much all the marks.
7. thecptz - Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - Only you and one other castaway tried to claim this which I was sort of shocked by. It seemed like an obvious great entry to me. The demo round made me question your potential as as a player but this has certainly redeemed it. Great choice.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - SLAY! the song that catapulted Kelly to the Pop Rock trinity. The song easily shows what this theme is all about. Flawless!
Quote:
Brian - 9.5 - Great choice! But some lines it seems like she wishes it would've worked out, instead of just truly being over him.
Quote:
Element - 8.5 – This is a classic entry for this sort of round, and I think it is a great choice! My main complaint is actually that the verses are rather focused on the past, and the theme of empowerment in the chorus seems somewhat limited compared to the entire song.
8. Scene. - FAKY - Better Without You
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - I was a little worried I would have to translate this and send a special link to the panel to judge this entry but it's like majority english. The title alone embodies the theme but the english lyrics really do as well. Score would probably be a bit higher if all the song was understandable but still a very nice choice!
Quote:
Yvess - 8 - I screamed seeing this song choice from *****'s pm tbh. I honestly think this song is cute and somehow fits our theme. I love the chorus part the most.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Good choice. Wish it had more self-empowerment though.
Quote:
Element - 7 – I feel like this worked pretty well, but I was left feeling that it was somewhat generic overall. Yes, we see that she’s better without him, but what else is there?
Tribe Sahrondo
1. gotintoririfever1 - Hailee Steinfeld - You're Such A
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - I mean she does specifically say she's better off without this guy but the rest of the song falls flat as she just puts the guy down rather than bringing herself up. Not terrible but unfortunately your first choice was taken this round.
Quote:
Yvess - 9.5 - I'm glad you picked Hailee coz I find her promising so grats to that. I love the verses and the chorus slays. The lyrics shows how she enjoys being without her ex so it exactly passes the theme
Quote:
Brian - 7 - Less a self-empowerment anthem declaring her newfound independence than a "**** you asshole" song.
Quote:
Element - 6.5 – I think this song has some bright moments, such as how she explicitly says she is better off without him. However, it seems way too focused on the ex, not on Hailee’s independence and empowerment.
2. Remmy - Ashley Tisdale - It's Alright, It's OK
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - This used to actually be called a So What rip-off back in the day. However, rip-off or not, it's a definite great fit for the round. I mean... Ashley literally says she's so much better without her ex. Nice start.
Quote:
Yvess - 9.5 - As a Gabriela Montes stan, I personally despise Sharpay Evans but I can't let that get in the way of giving you a good score. The lyrics are on point and I am very much getting into this bop.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - It's not as self-empowering as it could be, she makes it clear she's still heartbroken and reminisces on the past. But she's saying she's better off without him, so good job!
Quote:
Element - 9.5 – This is one of my favorite pop songs ever honestly. It’s timeless and I’ve been jamming to it since 2009. The song itself is very energetic, the chorus is super focused on empowerment, and I really love how the bridge drags him in a way that empowers herself, with statements like “fiction tears”. Great entry!
3. theREALslimSHADY - Ke$ha - Thinking Of You
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - This reminds me of Gives You Hell. where it's more about success as a form of revenge than anything else. K$ is definitely better off without this guy but it's more focused on getting back at him than empowering herself. Not a bad choice though.
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - One of my fave songs from the good sis Kesha. You can really see how ruthless she can be when she found out the truth about her man in this song. I love the explicit parts of the song.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - It's more vengeful than anything. She's not really singing about how better off she is without him or empowering herself.
Quote:
Element - 8 – I’m TORN on this one. I feel like it has some really good sections on independence and empowerment, but she also seems too caught up in actions from the past. I think ultimately this is a good choice though.
4. ririfan21 - Justin Bieber - Love Yourself
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - Lyrically, a total fit. However, the instrumental to this song has always been very ironic since it's so laid back and chilled out. That's where this falls flat a bit as it's not very empowering like some of the more spunky songs submitted this round. However, the song's lyrics really help overcome that weakness to a degree.
Quote:
Yvess - 7 - I get why you chose this song. It's about realizing your ex's shittty behavior. So if we check again the theme, it does not totally matches the theme.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - I like the choice, he's definitely singing about being better off independent, but it seems like most of the song is about taking jabs at his ex instead of focusing on himself.
Quote:
Element - 8 – Overall, pretty good entry. The sentiment of being “better on my own” is fairly strong, and I think as a reflection piece, it works to show how he realized he needed to move on.
5. rl231 - CeeLo Green - **** You
Quote:
Dylan - 6 - You're actually one of quite a few people who tried to nab this song and I don't really get why. I mean he's definitely telingl the girl off but there's no real indication he's doing fine without her. In fact, he seems pretty bothered by the whole situation. Not a very good choice for me rl.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Cee Lo's only hit song. I love it. The progression of the story depicted in the lyrics is amazing and it works well with the theme. Kudos!
Quote:
Brian - 7 - The chorus is empowering, but the verses are kind of self-deprecating. He's not really declaring being better alone and instead saying **** you to the girl who doesn't want to be with him.
Quote:
Element - 6 – This song is definitely good from the “screw you” perspective, but I really don’t see much about being better off without the relationship? I get that this song is more of a comedic, tongue-in-cheek interpretation of the theme, but it doesn’t hit the marks for me.
6. Bloomers - Big Sean (feat. E-40) - I Don't **** With You
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - This one is a step above the other songs that also use success as a form of empowerment because he actully focuses on the leaps and bounds he's made since this relationship ended. It comes full circle unlike a few other songs here. Good but not great.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Yaaaaas Bloombae! I am addicted with this track. I love that he mocks his ex. Great choice and grats on being a mod. Don't ban me
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Good choice. I think it's way more about vengeance to his ex than focusing on himself and how much better he is now..
Quote:
Element - 8.5 – Unlike rl’s entry, I think this one shows the division from the relationship in a more empowering way. He is done and he has moved on. He’s not messing around with her anymore, and life is better. Good choice.
7. Prismatic - Ailee - I Will Show You
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - She starts out sad but it has this transition into empowerment as she slips into something nice and goes out looking better than ever. She vows that she'll meet a better man and be better off than before. The only issue is it's more a promise than a reality. This will happen in the future but she's not yet there. It's an alright choice for the round but I think there were other options of people actually being better off in the present rather than the future.
Quote:
Yvess - 6.5 - Sis, I like some k-pop stuff tbh but I think this song choice is not too strong for this round. The song shows the artist's feeling of sadness from the breakup. It's more of a grieving song due to a heartbreak.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - This isn't really empowering. She's singing about hoping to be okay one day, seems like she still has feelings for her ex instead of believing she is better off without him.
Quote:
Element - 8 - At first, I thought she was going to be focused on looking better FOR him, but then the song took a pleasant turn later on and was definitely a good choice for this round.
8. mxtthewdelrey - Charli XCX - Breaking Up
Quote:
Dylan - 6 - Charli spends the entire song trashing her ex but I don't see where she actually empowers herself. She's glad she doesn't have this guy in her life anymore but it fails to glorify herself like other songs here.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Stan for Queen Charli!!!! I can really feel the angst yet cutesy side of her in this song. The lyrics shows how easy it is for her to leave someone and she easily shades and drags em in the lyrics. Wonderful!
Quote:
Brian - 7.5 - She's clearly better off without him, but she's not really declaring how much better and happier she is, rather just trashing her ex.
Quote:
Element - 5 – I really don’t see much self-empowerment here. She seems pretty angry and is just focusing all her energy on him, not herself and her independence

Tribe Kayntaya
1. Xedretinz Lododnz - La Roux - Bulletproof
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - The way I see it, she's not with this guy anymore and now he's back in her life and she's basically rejecting him using the bulletproof metaphor as her way of doing so. She's taking a stand and not allowing that to happen which is sort of fitting for the round. But she doesn't do much to say how much better of she is now that he's gone. It's almost halfway there in a sense and for that reason, I can't really give anything but an average score.
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - I get that this song is about never going back to your ex and I'm pleased with its overall appeal, its catchy. My only problem is, I don't see how she is really having fun with her newly found singlehood, there might be a one liner about her having fun but it's not enough imo. she might have decided that she'll never be back to her ex, but is she feeling better off without him or not? That's my dilemma about this song.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - Good choice, however it is not as direct and clear that she's emancipating herself from a relationship she's done with.
Quote:
Element - 9 – Good choice and empowering!
2. holyground - Lily Allen - Smile
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - The whole "i go ahead and smile" is Lily saying she's way better off without actually saying it. Clearly the girl is thriving from the break-up. Only issue with this is it's so chill and subtle that it lacks the empowerment factor that some of the more in your face songs have. Still, pretty good.
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - Smile is that kind of song you want to listen to when you feel bad about a breakup. I just felt that it's kinda lacking of some strong lines so it can totally nail the theme.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - She's definitely saying **** you to her ex, but it's not as self-empowering as some of the other choices. Good job though!
Quote:
Element - 6 – This entry is fair, and has some good moments such as “light at the end of the tunnel.” Ultimately, however, she seems way too focused on him, and not herself.
3. Opium - Hilary Duff - One in a Million
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - I'm not sure if it's because Hilary has a very soft and sweet voice but this doesn't have that oomph factor a lot of the entries had this round. Lyrically, the chorus is what hits the theme well enough but the verses don't do as much to enforce that chorus. I can definitely see what Hilary is saying but this doesn't stand out either. Just a decent entry. But decent is still much better than bad entry.
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - Yaaaaas. What I love about this song is its hook. The lyrics are alright. Her bragging that she's one in a million and he's goin down without her is ICONIC.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Great choice! The chorus is what I wanted to see more of in song choices. She's celebrating and empowering herself. The verses however seem like she's still figuring out a tumultuous relationship instead of knowing she's better off without him.
Quote:
Element - 6 – You had the same problem as holyground – too focused on the lover suffering, and not Hilary empowering herself.
4. Sebas - Katy Perry - Part of Me
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - Definitely has that empowering feel to it. The bridge really embodies the theme I askef for so that's what takes this from a good entry to a great one. You made it in the game based off your song choice and you've proven you can handle a theme this round as well.
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - I just hoped PoM didn't make it to #1 so that it didnt get its unnecessary hate from atrl. Lyrically, it fits our theme. I like the bridge coz that's the part where she can show that she's doing much better without her man.
Quote:
Brian - 9.5 - It's empowering and she's celebrating her independence. Wish she celebrated herself a little more, but great job!
Quote:
Element - 9 – Strong choice, that is focused more on the present and the future. She emphasizes being a dancing flame that cannot be put out anymore by the memory of her former lover.
5. Tom Vercetti - Kristinia DeBarge - Goodbye
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - I've always adored Kristinia. She deserved better. However, bias outside, this song is still a perfect pick. You were actually the only one to think of it and I'm so glad you did because it's such an underrated track. Really nice start for you.
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - First of all, I like the artist you chose and people should listen to her more. This song fits the theme, I just want it to be more longer lyrically so I can totally feel the vibe.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Good choice! She's saying goodbye to her ex lover, but I don't think it's as self-empowering as other choices.
Quote:
Element - 9.5 – Great focus on changing one’s attitude and empowering yourself after a breakup. A fabulous independence track.
6. Satan - Jason Derulo - Ridin' Solo
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - I thought this was an odd entry to send in when I first read your PM but it actually really works. He's having fun now that he doesn't have some annoying significant other in his life. He's clearly happier. Glad you switched your choice of entry!
Quote:
Yvess - 9.5 - I love Derulo's previous songs than what he's been releasing nowadays. RS is such a perfect bop and the lyrics shows how better he is now without his ex so good choice Satan.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - He's celebrating himself and it's empowering, but he reminisces a bit and talks about being hurt, so it's not really as "screw you" as the example and other entries were. Great job though!
Quote:
Element - 9.5 – This is a really good entry! I love the lines where he says that he currently feels like a star, and is on cloud nine now that he’s single. Really strong choice.
7. Speezy - Fefe Dobson - Thanks For Nothing
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - Your demo round entry was nothing but disappointing for a former player. However, this is a nice taste of redemption for you. She's thanking her ex for leaving her so she can go along and be her old true self again. She's clearly better off. Big improvement.
Quote:
Yvess - 9.5 - Slay us with some Fefe greatness. I remember listening to this song and I'm glad with how the song makes me feel better after breaking up with someone. Cool song choice!
Quote:
Brian - 10 - This hit the theme perfectly! She's not only celebrating her independence and saying she's better off without her ex lover, but she's celebrating herself as well. Proud of you Speez!
Quote:
Element - 9 – Another really good choice on this tribe! The chorus really hits the theme with the series of “thank yous” – she is truly an independent person and has taken her breakup and is living happily now.
8. Mirrorwriting - Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - You ran to my inbox in record time and it was definitely worth it! Title alone is a clear fit for the round but the lyric are also a great complement to this theme of being better off without a former lover. Nice!
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Underrated gem tbh, I love this ballad coz it's shady but still it gets me emotional whenever I listen to it. The whole song is totally awesome and it just fits the theme perfectly imo!
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Awesome choice! She's doing better now and is saying screw you, but it's not as self-empowering as some other entries though.
Quote:
Element - 6.5 – A decent choice that has some lines regarding empowerment and independence. I think it focuses a bit too much on the man, not Beyonce, however.

Tribe Sahrondo with an average of 7.8.
Congratulations Tribe Kayntaya on your first win of the season. You are all safe this round. Tribe Maji Maji is also safe from elimination this time around.
As for Tribe Sahrondo, one of you will become the first eliminated castaway after this Tribal Council. When you are ready, PM me the name of the person you want eliminated from your tribe. If you change your mind, simply send me another PM with an updated choice for elimination. There isn't necessarily a due date for votes but it also shouldn't take a full day to complete. Remember, Remmy is immune from elimination.
Good luck everyone.

Though the song I originally sent (Fefe Dobson "Thanks for Nothing") got slightly better scores Screw you, Speezy!

I used to Stan for Fefe Dobson and her album Joy back in 2013 if anyone recalled her being in my Sig back then
Fun Fact : I originally sent in IDFWU and got rid of it so quickly

1st place for my tribe + immunity + nearly top 5 overall
Ugh, yeah as I was scrolling down I saw that our tribe had more mixed scores than the others and I had a feeling we were going in.

Yesss, Joy is so amazing (and underrated, of course.) I've known her ever since "Everything" but that's the first full album I heard from ha discography.
