I'm new to the whole charts thing, could anybody explain to me what the recurrents thing means? What exactly is removed?

How weird that the Bad Romance video get 80 million hits in like a month on YouTube, but the streaming is so low.

YouTuBe doesn't count for streaming.

It certainly should, however. Yahoo music and AOL are really just not the first places, or even second places, people go to to listen to music online.

Recurrent is a song that has been on the charts for a very long time and is losing it's popularity. I don't know what are the Hot 100 Airplay rules for recurrents, but Mediabase Top 40 removes a song after it drops out of The Top 20 and had been on the chart for a long run (20 weeks I think)....


& ^ I agree with YouTuBe being added, but I think it would turn the charts into a mess so Billboard still don't want to put that in, and also cause on YouTuBe there can be thousands versions (multiple uploads by different users) of a song or a music video while on Yahoo or AOL we have only one "official" version and also cause the viewing counting on YouTuBe is very innacurate, what I mean is that, If I watch a music video three times, I'm adding 3 views to the video....

I won't expect a Top 10 until the single is at least getting a good amount in spins.

And I agree YouTube SHOULD matter -- who even goes to those other sites. You wanna see a video, you go straight to YouTube.

I think Billboard will add YouTube soon - maybe within a year or so - with the advent of Vevo (subsection of youtube for music videos where official labels can only post vids). Billboard would only count views from Vevo, and as long as the Vevo vid is the main version that people are watching, the streaming numbers should become more reflective of what's popular.
