Sometimes you need a kick in the keester. It'd be one thing if it was taxes on NECESSITIES, but no one should be smoking anyway. Nicotine patches can be tax-free.
A tax on something that not only affects you, but affects the people surrounding you and the environment, should most definitely be taxed. I'm not against banning cigarettes eventually either, in the next 30 years or something.
Soda isn't nearly as destructive as cigarettes, but I still see taxing it as reasonable.
