Most original track of the year? HELL NO. You could easily switch Bad Romance's and Poker Face's chorus and still no one would notice the difference. LOL
It's obvious this wasn't the right single choice to follow-up 'Light On, which did decently in the charts, but it doesn't take away from how great this song is. I must admit it took a few listens for this to grow on me, I would usually ignore this when I was playing the album, but things change. 'Come Back To Me' narrates the story of relationship that needs time to figure things out and it's accompanie by a nice slow arrangement and of course Cook's signature mellow vocals. Cook is currently working on album number two, and I honestly can't wait to hear what he has in store this year, I know he won't disappoint.
15. Leona Lewis "Happy"
Leona Lewis arguably gave the best vocal performance by a female singer of the year, the pain in her voice gives this song so much emotion, the lyrics will definitely move the listener. The ultimate message of the track is that not taking chances may build a safe life, when at the end of the day those risks that you take in life are what makes you truly happy. The video fits the song perfectly again, I was very impressed, and I can go as far as saying is her best video ever. 'Happy' is simply a masterpiece, one of the best ballads of the year.
14. Rihanna "Rehab"
Rehab got released at the beginning of the year, but I always considered it one of the standout tracks from 'Good Girl Gone Bad'. Rehab is very dark deep ballad about the consequences of love; it's also worth mentioning that her vocals take the lead, the sound is very controlled, beautiful, and full of passion in this track. Timberlake did a fantastic job with the lyrics and his cameo and the work of art that is the video for the song, definitely made it more interesting. Rihanna can do no wrong, and 'Rehab' is more proof of her artistic level and versatility.
And agree on the 'Rehab' comments, and it could have been a huge hit, maybe even a #1, if it was released earlier. It's tied with 'Distrubia' as my fave song from her.
