Atheists aren't trying to accomplish anything. They don't hold secret meetings to try and take down Christians. They're made up of every single type of person imaginable, and their only uniting characteristic is a lack of belief in some type of deity.
This is like seeing a man in red shorts steal a pack of gum from the grocery store and wondering to yourself why people in red shorts are thieves. You're taking a very vocal minority and conflating it with the rest of the population.
Most have this weird belief that a world with no religion will be some utopia or better place. But there have been atheist governments that were highly oppressive.
Can we just agree that it's not the religion but the people.
also, atheists are trying to accomplish the same thing all people trying to make people convert are trying to accomplish: making people share their beliefs. if you honestly believe that most people try to convert people to any other religion because they want to save them or whatever then you're ridiculously naive.
and i don't see why most people who have given up all hope would be helped by religion. i know in the darkest places of my life, thinking about god sure as hell didn't solve my problems. i guess it works for some people, but the majority of people aren't really going to find any comfort in that because it doesn't really change the conditions of their current lives.
and as someone with personal experience with "mental trainwrecks", the majority of people with severe mental problems to the point of giving up any hope whatsoever aren't in the same state of mind as the average person, so these kinds of things don't really apply to them.
they are trying to gain a better understanding of the world through continued advancements in science and if that ends up leading to them believing a "god" does not exist or did not create the world it is just a byproduct
There are just as many atheists trying to "accomplish something" as there are Christians trying to "accomplish something". Aka... most atheists aren't trying to "accomplish" anything. If someone uses faith as a coping mechanism, that's fine. I don't care. If someone wants to get in an argument with me about religion, I'm going to stand up for my beliefs?
What? I'm confused. Why do you think that all atheists push some sort of militant agenda? Why are you devaluing disabled persons' lives by insinuating that they can derive happiness only from religion?
