I'm starting college and honestly I have no idea whether or not I should request a gay roommate. In fact, I don't even know if I can request that yet but just in case.

I need your guys' opinions

I feel like another gay guy (if there wasn't much drama) would just understand me a lot better and I wouldn't have to needlessly explain a bunch of **** to him and we would have more similar interests and be generally more compatible. But what if there's sexual tension or something? Maybe I should try to look as ugly as possible and tell him to do the same.

Idk. I'm really concerned right now and stressed out
I've roomed with straight guys before and it was no problem, we both got along well even though we didn't have the most similar of interests.

i don't think it makes a difference, and that the probability of getting a bad roommate is pretty much the same whether you request a gay or straight one.

and life lesson for all of you now: being gay doesn't mean you'll have similar interests or get along. don't ride on that idea because there will be plenty of times it doesn't work.

I wouldn't recommend so. It will be a drama queen mess and hook ups everywhere probably.
