Yep. It probably will be based on the original Homecoming comics which features the Symbiote character. On top of this, Marvel has made an emphasis that this is not an origin story but starts off a year after Parker gets his powers. And this Spider-Man is different from the others in that he's an Avenger.

Spider-Man will do just fine with Downey in it. Hell, if you guys even paid attention to the comics, they had a strong working relationship. The fact that Marvel is duly following the comics to a t in terms of enveloping Spidey in their MCU is amazing.
