Being black is really hard. You're constantly fighting discrimination and sterotypes and honestly, it gets unbearable. It's frustrating when you want to be successful, but you're competing against all of the privileged white men, who don't work nearly as hard as you do to achieve more. Being a black man is so discouraging, everyone has a preconceived thought about how you should behave, and honestly society is set up for where it's harder for black men to be taken seriously. Its even worse for black women.

I have a job, I am a college student, and I pay all of my own bills. But yet, it seems that for white people (especially men), they reap the benefits without working as hard. Add being gay on top of it, and its even more discouraging. Society doesn't want to accept a strong, educated black man who isn't "gang-banging" or "illiterate." It makes it that much harder to be taken seriously just because of my skin. People look at me weird because I like pop music, and I talk properly. But then, they also lookat me in disgust when I speak in Ebonics and embrace my culture. Making new friends is difficult because you never really know if they're racist or discriminatory. Black people are beautiful, educated, and unique people. Yet society always treats us like wild animals. Its so exhausting. :/

I can't speak for you because I'm not black, and if I'm honest I've been benefited by the color of my skin most of my life because of the career I have.

But one thing I can tell you is that being white doesn't make your life perfect and being black doesn't make your life miserable. We all suffer the same in different ways for different circumstances, and what makes you happy is the state of mind you face your **** in life.

Try to be more positive and change that state of mind, fight for what you believe. That's all I can say, and I get that this situation can be very hard tho.

I lighten up the mood everywhere

I love being black but it is discouraging to hear "you sound white", "you're trying to be white" when "you" speak normally, at times. I understand where you are coming from but never let that be a hindrance; it's too petty of an issue.

Its unfair to say white men dont work as hard. They have their own set of problems, but you are right they dont face the discrimination you do.

Stay strong! I went to an all white school as a hispanic male and i got all the stereotypes thrown in my face. "Wow you speak really good english (for a mexican)" yes gawd i feel you.

Just remember they arent as happy as you think they are and dont compare yourself to them!

It is hard. But I'm so proud. I can be proud of my race. I wouldn't change being black for anything.

don't get discouraged bro. it can be exhausting at times, but you just have to keep a positive outlook and accept that you have to work twice as hard. be so good at what you do that no one can deny what you deserve.

Edit: You what know what my advice is - there's ALWAYS someone worse off than you. I lost absolutely everything in a house fire last week. I'm almost homeless, and will be struggling for the next few weeks/months to sort everything out.

All I know is that I have support and I live a country that will provide a roof over my head until I can return home. I am VERY lucky. Think positive thoughts because this life only happens once. Go out there and TAKE the life you want, don't sit and moan about it. No one is going to GIVE you anything!
