Well I have no clue about their feelings towards each other and I can't speak on their behalf in that matter, but most Asian food spots in the west mix Japanese and Chinese food/culture and are usually owned by Japanese/Chinese men including my favorite takeout spot so basically even Japanese/Chinese people mix both cultures sometimes.
