Not really his last real hit was Loyal no? He still makes bops but in no way is he this mega superstar that this trailer is trying to make him out to be. He's been consistently in lukewarm territories in the last 5+ years or so.

I feel the time for presenting this "softer" Chris has come and gone. The public won't buy it anymore, and they don't care.

Which is not to say he is over musically. I'm just saying that from a media standpoint, this attempt would've been welcome 3-4 years ago. Not now.

He may not have had a huge hit from this most recent era, but he's still extremely popular with the GP. His solo hits are kind of irrelevant to them when he still appears regularly on other peoples' tracks.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but his universal appeal has long died.
Artists like The Weeknd and Drake for example, have done a good job at kinda burying his legacy.
Both are bigger R&B males, especially Drake.

So anticlimactic and corny.

Honestly, it's not even about the fact that he's just trying to redeem himself image wise, but I feel that this a desperate marketing technique that could of worked for him possibly a few years back.
