There is a Rio Test Event going on right now to decide which teams can qualify to go to Rio again later this summer. 8 teams qualified last year at the World Championships, with four more qualifying today. Unfortunately, Romania is currently in fifth place with two more teams left to go meaning that they won't go to the Olympics as a full team.
This is a HUGE deal in gymnastics. They have been to every Olympics since 1972 and have medaled in every Olympics since 1976. They've had an individual who have won an Olympic gold medal since 1976 as well. They have a huge tradition in the sport and it's devastating to see them miss out on these games.
