All of these are important issues, but we cannot afford to downplay climate change like that anymore, and i'm not willing to endanger the future of upcoming generations. I'm NOT willing to put the lives of my future children and grandchildren at risk.

I'm not even talking about you or this thread but it baffles me how people are still treating climate change as a non-issue or something that can "wait", like it literally can't wait there needs to be action NOW.

This is a very deep and dangerous misunderstanding of how the system should and does operate. Like Retro said, the capacity to handle all sorts of current and future occurrences is there. It's extremely selfish and sickening to care about our own current prosperity and disregard the very alarming and critical future consequences of the things we're doing to the planet right now. The next generations will look back at us and wonder why we didn't contain the damage when we had the ability to, definitely while and alongside dealing with the current important issues of national and international security.

The planet is depending on you. You have a moral obligation to weigh in, and you might even have more power and capacity to change the planet than preserving (inter)national security.
