I just re-watched it this weekend and there was something about it, I felt like all the artist were family and everyone really came to celebrate music and overall just very fun and interesting.
HIGHLIGHTS
Gaga dressed as a man, Beyoncé shattered Twitter records with announcing her pregnancy, Britney winning the Vanguard award, and getting a tribute performance, Katy winning Video Of The Year for Firework, Nicki getting her first VMA with Super Bass, Amy Winehouse tribute by Bruno Mars, a critically acclaimed performance by Adele, which ended with a standing ovation from the audience. & SO MUCH MORE
the 2011 vma's sucked and so did jo calderone
and should we even call that britney performance a tribute? they rushed through it, threw her award at her, and she introduced the next act. i feel like they gave her no cred.
no one cares about nicki winning her first vma.
no one cares about bruno mars' amy tribute and why did he do it in the first place?
the whole beyonce thing was a non-event to me, but everyone acts like its an event when she breathes so just another day in pop culture.
Being there live, Young The Giant, Adele & Beyoncé were the only highlights and I'm not a big fan of any of them.
I'm a bigger fan of Kanye & even his performance with Jay-Z was pretty lackluster.
When I went in 2010 I had the best time ever though...I sat in the 1st row where the performances took place so Rihanna was literally a few feet from me when she opened with Eminem & all the celebrities walked right in front of me to get to their seats too.
Not Gaga's best opener, in retrospect, it was pretty risky but it also lingered on for too long and felt so intrusively arrogant. Everything else blurred into one.
