He is a Hillary Clinton surrogate (as in paid by her campaign).
I think the situations are the same. Sanders and Clinton surrogates last night said some very tasteless things and when called out on it gave responses that amounted to "sorry, not sorry".
There's two distinctions as far as I can see. One is that while Paul Song should have some grounds to defend his position as a poor choice of words in that he was using a well known and accepted phrase describing a group of people as opposed to just a woman. Watson not only insinuated the Sanders rally was like a Nazi rally but describes Sanders with the name of a Neo Nazi organization. There's really isn't any grounds he can reasonably claim that how people interpreted his tweet is not what he meant.
The second is that one happened on twitter (and was promptly deleted) and the other at a rally. If I'm being charitable I'd say that's why Song's remark will cause mass outrage and calls for Sanders himself to apologize and/or disavow him as a surrogate whereas calls for Clinton to do the same will be minimal, certainly no one will be writing think pieces on how Clinton has fostered this attitude ....but I'm not being charitable. I don't think that's the reason at all, I think this is the latest in a line of Hillary supporter's outrage while continuing to defend Bill's rant at BLM, super predators, bring them to heal or commenting on the legacy of the apparently awful last eight years. If the outrage is anything more than just a way to stick it the opposition they should at least be treated equally. It isn't so it's not.
