Nintendo has never been good with graphics. Even the first Crash Bandicoot game has greater graphics when played in HD compared to a Super Mario game released in 2010.

This is 2016. Freshman auto cad students are making better looking games.

I hope Nintendo crashes and burns. They have no idea what gamers want. I think they're still punch drunk from the success of the Wii and think that they can continue down that path. They cannot. I haven't seen a Wii get used in years. They're always for sale when I go to a second hand store.

There are 3 basic principles for gaming today:

Online (multiplayer, store, services)
Line up (Exclisives and 3rd party titles)
Graphics.

I'm not going to pay 2016 prices for a game that looks 10 years old. I stopped buying Pokemon games because I don't feel they're worth my time and money anymore. You can make a great great that's both fun to play and looks amazing. But they think they don't need that. They're wrong.

The whole Wii U era has been one of the most embarrassing fails in business in history.. even naming it something other than the Wii U would've caused this disaster to go slightly better.

They're going in the right direction with what we've heard about the NX.. and games like 3D World and even that ****** Animal Crossing party game look incredible (obv the game sucks but I'm talking graphics) so they are only going to get better there. The main problem is how inconsistent they are. Wii U has some amazing games but they always find a way to ruin something with limiting what can be done in a totally unnecessary way.

No matter what, Mario Maker and Smash 4 are amazing games with so much to do and discover. Nintendo just need to pay attention to what people want. Thankfully the 3DS has been amazing and had a great library of games these past 5 years, so they've had something to save them this generation.

There's a difference between not trying to make the best graphical game out vs making a game that doesn't look attractive and looks like no one cared when making it

For example, Mario Galaxy doesn't have HD graphics or anything but the game looked good. It looked well made. It didn't need to be the best of the best to look good.

But this just looks awful. Like no care had been put into it and debs tried to get away with the bare minimum.

Too focused on nausea inducing gimmicks and milking nostalgia

Nintendo is losing it, get off the ship before they hurt y'all any further.

They just better sell Metroid to Sony or any other competent company before they go under.

You can't really excuse Nintendo for never focusing on graphics to give it a pass like this

They aren't everything but they do matter these days, and gameplay isn't always gonna win people over. I love me some Nintendo but they do need to stop shelling out their games like this. Especially their important IPs. I pretend the Wii U is just another Virtual Boy and GameCube and they'll come out strong with the NX like they did with the 64 and Wii.

GC had better hardware, but had less detailed textures because the discs were small.
The Xbox was the most powerful during the period, but it arrived much later than the rest I believe.
