Okay so, the thing is, it did spread rapidly throughout the cattle because they were fed the meat and bone meal of diseased cattle, BUT this is because the cattle was already diseased. The cannibalism is not what caused it, only it's spread.
Humans who ate the meat of the infected cows also got sick.
