Babes, what's "jest" about your comment, considering how that is actually very clearly how you felt, so why shouldn't I respond? And it wasn't just you btw. Acting as if twigs isn't an equal for OPN to be working with in the studio? ********.
And yes, consensus and the discussion around her work does back up what I'm saying as it's clearly your gripes and hang ups because in your mind (despite liking the majority of her work to some degree it seems) OPN is above working with her, and that does rub me up the wrong way, whether your intention or not, it seems to play up to this idea of a white, male producer being some superior gatekeeper twigs isn't worthy off - it's irritating to read those comments. So I responded. Hey, I guess that's how a forum works.
And that's besides the point anyway that OPN is very much about creating a whole project, a whole vibe that goes beyond the music which is exactly what twigs is about too (which you'll see more of when you see her live). They are both very creative people, OPN is a professional producer, twigs is someone who collaborates with producers. He is not too good for her. That's it.

"Idolizing"

That thread is a place for all discussion on artists that get ignored here, among other things. Sure, most of those artists minus Iman Omari are heavily critically praised, but that has nothing to do with liking the music. I don't even particularly care for every artist in that collage (e.g. Miss Harvey).

id you even take the time to skim through the thread, maybe? How would that be equal to your previous posts labeling someone's different opinion "laughable" because she has critical praise? And everyone in there is actually pretty open minded and respectful of others opinions, which you seem not to be.
The "above" type of phrasing was what was in jest, I don't think hes "above" her in the white king sense that you took it as. I just think he's better musically; not cause he's white, not cause he's male, not cause of anything but the music. We're all entitled to our own musical opinions and stating them and YOU acting like yours is any better because it's what some critics think is horse **** & is indeed pretentious. You could've just disagreed, which is fine, but you didn't. You went about it in a way that rubbed
me the wrong way the same way my post might have rubbed you the wrong way.
There's cases of white artists propped up on unbelievable pedestals that their work doesn't match up to compared to their counterparts of color [in my opinion] but I do not believe that POV can apply to OPN who doesn't get nearly as much attention or pedestal-putting as those names. He's even
less mentioned than twigs. I know all too well about the white god complex in media, but that doesn't make specific people any less talented/creative or whatever else.
Someone might not like twigs, but her race more often than not has nothing to do with that (surely with how out there she can get sound-wise, you can see how some wouldn't be fans!). You shouldn't jump to conclusions
all the time (although I can see the reason why, especially on here

). And its not like OPN isn't respected
enough in "critical circles" to warrant a preference towards him over her. (And shes more acclaimed than he is; yet there's something of a preference towards him for a lot of people) And yes, I do like her work for the most part minus some criticisms that I have based on me and me alone, not like I think it's a fact or anything. Which is the point! If you hadn't have tried to make is seem like everyone's opinion is somehow 'lessor' we wouldn't even be in this back and forth.
Its not like its a rumored Jason Derulo collab or something which I can see those kinds of response, lol. Its OPN! I think in a forum everyone should be respected for their musical opinions 99% of the time (unless they're being plain ignorant/uninformed, snobby, racist+sexist) Which is why I responded the way that I did.
I never denied she was creative, and does more than just make music; I mean, I like her. You just took my phrasing in the wrong way. Do I prefer his music? Yes.

but to her defense, she's still just starting out, while he's just released his 7th album (and that's just under the OPN moniker). I'm very excited to see her perform
Let's just relax a bit in wait for if this collaboration will even come to fruition, and spread more positivity. Like THERihFan said, whatever the case is; a collaboration between the two will be interesting. I don't even really like arguing or whatever, I love everybody.
