Well I think Lana could've if she would've tried. She didn't even have to be 100% pop... She's just too lazy and don't give a **** tho. Born to Die Lana was so promising each era she gets lazier and lazier. Her videos, clothes and music were so flawless in that era and she actually showed hunger/desire to be recognized back then.

Not quite. BTD is close to 5.5 million. Paradise sold round 700k as an EP on its own. UV is at 1.6 million and Honeymoon was over 600k in Jan. So, all in all she is way over 8 million.
Not including streams of course. And BTD/P was streamed over a billion times on Spotify.

There haven't been that many females that have sold over 8 million albums this decade.

What is admireable about her is that she is not playing the game which will in future stop her from having anything remotely close to a BTD-sized success, but these numbers can only be topped by Taylor and Adele in the future anyway. Or can anybody else point me out which other female will have an album selling over 5 million sopies worldwide?

She hardly promotes, releases material that is not following a hit formula and still manages to sell a decent amount in its sales climate. Then goes back into hiding and writes another record and so on.

People on her appauld artists that are playing the game way more than those who actually don't.

I think Lana, Ariana, Selena, and Meghan are on the way there, Lorde can come back strong, Natalie La Rose and Tinashe were well on their way but quickly got derailed, and LaBritney Franklin (from Detroit), Parkwood's Sophie Beem (listen to Girls Will be Girls), and That Poppy are different enough to make inroads before a debut album drops.

I feel like Willow will grow into an extremely successful albums and touring artist. As for singles. ...... we'll see. She could always go back to generic Crossover R&B (Whip My Hair) if she really wants to but it would mess up her vibe and reputation.

The current pop girls are still too popular and successful. The pop scene still belongs to them, so it's not possible for another girl to really break through and dominate everything.

Lorde had so much potential and she still does but she needs to come quick

Adele came out 2008, and 19 had sold like 2 million already in 2010, so she had her break already.

i'd say Lana del Rey, Meghan, Ariana and Lorde are the major debuts this decade, but yeah the 10's is clearly weaker than earlier decades

I agree, but putting sales aside, no one has those levels of impact this decade.

Last decade at least we got Rihanna, Katy, Gaga and Taylor that debuted and at least got closer to the levels of impact of someone like Britney. This decade no one is even up for debate with the ones from the last decade.
