Sort of off-topic, but that's a strange exam policy. At my school, if you're late to an exam, you're still allowed to write it, but you just don't get any extra time (you have to finish when the exam is scheduled to finish).

Anyways, I definitely feel bad for him and the immense amount of pressure he must have been feeling to lead him to do something like this. But on the other hand, blaming the university is ridiculous - setting yourself on fire is not a rational response to being denied entry into an exam, so he was clearly facing a number of other issues that the university had no control over.

It is overwhelming and people do have other issues going on as well. The smart ones, though, would take a short break during times like these. Cant say I know his situation though

How do you fail an exam 7 times and why are you allowed to take an exam that many times. Shouldn't there be a limit?

It's not the school's problem, it was his. I mean he failed the exam 7 times like what even? Anyway RIP.

Being Pakistani myself, I can imagine the enormous amount of pressure he must have received from....EVERYONE to be a huge success. Being a guy, it's just assumed you'll be something successful. Growing up with the mindset that you HAVE to be successful or else you're pretty much not a "man," doing something like missing an entire exam would probably feel like the end of the world.

Obviously no-one cared for his wellbeing. Someone should've have noticed he'd reach the verge of committing suicide if anyone cared about him. And the university should've done something if he'd failed the exam seven times before - like allowing him to switch courses. If you fail an exam seven times it's pretty clear that it's not for you.
