Inky the Octopus has made a brazen escape from the national aquarium in New Zealand by breaking out of its tank, travelling across the floor, slithering down a 6-inch-wide and 164-foot-long drainpipe and disappearing into the ocean - where the drain pipe leads.
In scenes reminiscent of Finding Nemo, Inky – a common New Zealand octopus – made his dash for freedom after the lid of his tank was accidentally left slightly ajar.
Staff said that in the middle of the night, while the aquarium was deserted, Inky clambered to the top of his glass enclosure, down the side of the tank and travelled across the floor of the aquarium.
Staff said that no great search would be put on for Inky, who is most likely roaming the ocean floor, back in his natural habitat.
A less independence-minded octopus, Blotchy, remained behind.
That's hilarious, good for him! Will he survive though??
I find it sooo gross and fascinating how they can squeeze through such tiny space (the posters gif above shows it )
