MaRy please. You don't understand the Haka
Quote:
first of all, it's a war cry, so it should not be used at a wedding. at a match ok, but it's odd here.

Haka is also used as a way of showing respect to people. For example at my school, we'd perform our school Haka to leaving teachers and students or to welcome a distinguished guest. They're also used at funerals to show respect for the person who has passed away. So no, it's not out of place at a wedding at all.

second of all, it does not matter who is marrying who or whatever, the whites in the video act like this haka is sacred to them when it's clearly not...

You don't understand New Zealand at all

Even if they didn't have Maori blood in them, Maori culture is still a part of New Zealand life and it's an integral part of growing up here regardless of who you are or where you've come from. So it's not fair to say that the haka is not sacred to them because a lot of New Zealanders have learnt a haka (most people probably know multiple hakas, for example I've learnt 3 in my lifetime) and have been taught by Maori elders or their relatives.
There's a difference between appropriating a culture you clearly know nothing about and respectfully performing a haka from a culture that's an integral part of the fabric of the society you've been raised around and engaged with.
