Flashing Lights' Best Of 2009 | Top 100 Songs! (80-71)
Okay, the deadline is almost up and I'm not even halfway done with my list. Wish me luck!
Ciara feat. Young Jeezy - "Never Ever"
2009 was a year Ciara would like to forget. She had only had one hit single and her album "Fantasy Ride" was the lowest selling her album of her career. Despite that, she managed to release some great tunes. "Never Ever" was such a "Promise" rip-off, but it was still a good song and Young Jeezy adds a nice touch to the song.
Soulja Boy feat. Sammie - "Kiss Me Thru The Phone"
Many shocking things happened in 2009. One was that Soulja Boy had a second hit! After "Crank That" became such a huge sensation, many people wrote him off as a one hit wonder. His first album actually went platinum, though. Out of nowhere, he came back with a surprisingly decent track. Soulja's "raps" are tiring, but it is the little known Sammie who really makes this worth listening.
Shakira feat. Lil' Wayne - "Give It Up To Me"
After "She Wolf" tumbled down, Shakira's label took one from the "how to become relevant again" book and forced Shakira to work with hip-hop producers to get an easy hit. Sounds awfully familiar? Well, the song isn't bad, but this just isn't Shakira's style and the single is already starting to lose steam.
Black Eyed Peas - "Meet Me Halfway"
How can you have a year-end countdown without the Black Eyed Peas? They dominated 2009, but this song sounds like something from 1989, especially Fergie's hook.
Taylor Swift - "Love Story"
I might find her overrated, but there's no denying that Taylor Swift had an amazing year. This quirky #1 was just the beginning.
Eminem - "We Made You"
There's no doubt that "We Made You" was a disappointing comeback for Eminem. I wanted another "Without Me" and instead, I got another "Just Lose It".
Jay-Z - "D.O.A."
Jay-Z's "D.O.A." was the first official single from The Blueprint 3. What exactly does he talk about in this song? Well, Jay-Z is sick of people overusing auto-tune and he made a song to finally stop the madness. Alas, "Death of Auto-tune". Unfortunately, all he managed to do was make auto-tune more popular. And in case you're wondering, he apologized to Z100.
The-Dream - "Rockin' That Thang"
I've always been a fan of The-Dream. "Rockin' That Thang" reminds me so much of early 2009, but that's it. His tune with Mariah Carey is coming soon.
Fabolous feat. Keri Hilson & Ryan Leslie - "Everything, Everyday, Everywhere"
Please check this out if you haven't. (I know most of you haven't) It's just an up-beat, relaxing hip-hop tune. Fabolous sounds great, Keri sounds great and their voices sound great together. I recommend!
Sean Paul - "So Fine"
What a flop! When I first heard this, I was so sure it was going to become a top ten hit. Of course, this isn't original. It sounds like something from "The Trinity", but it was still catchy. His new album hasn't even gone gold yet, so I think his time is up.
Finally done with that! If I'm up for it, I'll post 70-61 this evening.
