Like say if you got the opportunity to be signed to a record label but in order to be signed, you had to do some stuff you weren't comfortable with like snorting a drug, harming someone or sleeping with someone. Would you do it?
If in the contract, I had control over what my sound would be, they may as well just let me sign the contract with the blood of the person they told me I had to kill.
