Explain to me why it's not? It's a far left idea in the political landscape of the US. That's the reality.
For the US to be such a global country it makes no sense for these common policies in other countries to be considered extreme here. There's nothing extreme about it. It is a left-wing policy but calling it "far left" is a stretch, and it just makes the US look embarrassing.
I want Trump to get the nomination so the GOP downballot tickets are too incredibly ****ed up and we'll have great results for the Senate and House. A contested convention will do even more damage to the Republican Party by large, for sure, but it'll also help down ballots and I know for a fact my wacky Senator will win thanks to the Bible belt love for Ted Cruz.

Not really. We're not like a lot of other countries in the way that we're structured. Providing free college would be a lot more difficult to implement in the US. It's not as simple as just wanting it to happen.

I don't know, though. I think if they did a contested convention (which they are obviously hoping for) with Paul Ryan (again, obvious) they might be able to pull it off.

I dunno - they'd basically be telling those people that are attached to the Republican Party for pure racial reasons (a very large "minority" chunk of their base, ironically enough) that their voice does not matter and they would definitely not be showing up. It would be a huge fracture within since they've fed and relied on that base for decades now. But Ryan would also appeal to moderates and independents more, I do agree, but I think anyone not named Trump or Cruz could do that.
ugh why can't the New York primary be this Tuesday? The Bernie supporters on my Facebook are just too much, they need a hit to their ego.
Also, I have chimed in and asked for advice in this thread here and there, but I don't think I've formally introduced myself. I love, love, love Hillary Clinton and can't wait for her to become president. Bernie is alright. The rest are the pits.

"The greatest nation in the world" should be able to figure it out. We have a lot more wealth than a lot of the other countries doing the same thing. Yes the Republicans are a problem, but aside from Bernie there's no one really fighting for this stuff on a large scale.

Like They really think we don't have these things simply because politicians don't want it. The thing with being such a "global country" is that there are a million strings attached to everything we do.

I've said before that I think that the GOP would nominate Kasich at a contested convention, but after reading more about the topic, I want to retract that. I now feel that Cruz & Ryan are more likely. As crazy as it seems, the "establishment" seems to be getting behind the former, despite his relatively high in-party unfavorability ratings and extremely conservative views. I think that Cruz would be an even weaker candidate than Trump in the general election, as he would win small percentages of moderates and independents who don't relate to (or perhaps stand against) his strong convictions that religion should play a big role in government.
Trump is actually appealing to a decent amount of independents at the moment. Remember, his views on many issues (Israel, health care, and Planned Parenthood, to name a few) are significantly more moderate than his fellow candidates'. I feel that a good percentage of the independents who are supporting Trump fall close to or into the Young Outsiders ideology, a political typology group defined by the Pew Research Center in 2014:

Paul Tsongas held on to his Reagonomical-influenced beliefs because he watched one of the most blighted cities in my state develop into a centre for education and employment under them (mine). If president, I have no doubt he would have introduced Clintonomic-styled policies that bring social spending and investment in human capital into the limelight. And besides, just as with Bill, his wife Niki (the current Dem. rep from my district) is better!
