ho·mo·pho·bi·a
ˌhōməˈfōbēə/Submit
noun
dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people.
saying that you disagree with the "homosexual lifestyle" is a form of prejudice. you are "disagreeing" with the essence of who someone is and who they love, and you don't believe they should be living their lives that way. so yes, it was homophobic. homophobic people are capable of being friendly with gay people and still having homophobic views. being homophobic does not automatically mean shouting death to gays and running away from them in fear. it simply means not fully and completely supporting and accepting them for who they are
Not really sure if this is much of an "apology" since she's not actually correcting what she said or admitting that she was wrong - she's mainly just blaming the interviewers for asking her political questions and pulling the whole "sorry if you were offended" non-apology.
But whatever, I posted enough about why her comment was wrong and shouldn't just be brushed off in the last thread about this. Unfortunately, posting about her ignorance here won't make her any less ignorant.
Of course it isn't homophobic. She has gay friends. Fun fact: many ATRLers support the fascist Mississippi law. But who cares, it's just the gheys if it was about black people, refugees, jews or any other religious group the whole situation would be different.
We gays don't have to accept discrimination. Discrimination is not an opinion (I'm not talking about her but in general. Some members try to sugarcoat homophobia too much.)
This wasn't even an apology. It was basically a "sorry if you were offended by my statement, deuces "
She can keep whatever it was. These types of ignoramuses that think being gay is an active choice and that they are being good Christian people for "respecting and tolerating" us will always be around, I refuse to bother myself with them.

I don't see why anyone shouldn't agree with the "gay lifestyle." It's the same as straight relationships, but with two people of the same sex. It shouldn't affect her one bit. She can try to be all "I have gay friends," but the fact is she's still closed minded.
Nobody's substantially provided birth evidence, so therefore, some people view it as a concocted lifestyle.
"this is hate speech!" (noo)
edit: kind of feel dumb for posting thisss, it makes no sense kinda. But whatever, weirdly feel like defending her. Gays = humanss/it's real.
There's nothing to disagree with in the first place. People are attracted to who they are attracted to. Disagreeing with someone's sexual orientation is ignorant.

Let me break it down for you. Me saying I don't agree with interracial relationships is the equivalent to her saying she doesn't agree with homosexuality. It's pure ignorance. Nobody should disagree with someone's love life unless it's harming them or others. Bam. Reminds me of those "accepting Christians" that "tolerate" homosexuality. Like f*ck off.

Well, gay sex kind of directly harms yourself with a plethora of diseases, sooo.. yay, it harms you/your partner. (jk)
