44. Green Day “Know Your Enemy”
After more than four years, Green Day is back with their latest record for 21st Century Breakdown, and the first single off that album,
Know Your Enemy takes the 44th spot on my list. Lead vocalist of the band Billie Joe Armstrong explained that this song is a rallying song, that this is about liberating yourself from a lot of nonsense that you see on television. To be honest, I really don't care so much about their political views by showing it through anthems like this but their songs are good enough for my ears.
Know Your Enemy in my opinion is not a good lead single for their record but after a couple of spins and enough plays from radios, it started to grow on me. A music video with a good storyline could've helped me in understanding what are they actually trying to imply. And as for the real video, it's a bit of disappointment, all you see is Green Day performing with their instruments with an addition of fire to make it a bit interesting. Nevertheless, this song got popular at some point and that is enough to make it to my list last year.

43. Kings Of Leon “Use Somebody”
If you could remember a rock band that is successful for 2009, that would have to be Kings Of Leon.
Use Somebody is the single which led them to popularity and got almost everybody singing to this song at some point. This is by far the best release from Kings Of Leon as it can be seen by its run on different charts worldwide.
Use Somebody is also the highlight of their 4th studio album Only By Night. I enjoyed listening to this song when it was still popular but I have to admit I got tired of it after being played several times. As for its music video, it is fine for me as it features some scenes of Kings Of Leon performing. Probably I would consider this the best rock ballad of the year and I think you will agree with me on that.

42. Shontelle feat. Akon “Stuck With Each Other”
The first single
T-Shirt is a good start for the career of Barbarian newcomer Shontelle, her follow-up single
Stuck With Each Other on the other hand failed to make an impact and became underrated as well. Even if that is her fate, I still love this song from the very first time I heard this and I remember jamming to this song a couple of times for days. Stuck With Each Other features once again R&B singer Akon, his contribution with this song is one reason why I enjoyed this so much. It was used as a soundtrack to the movie
Confessions of a Shopaholic. At this point, I think almost everyone had forgotten this song but not me. This reached the top spot in my countdown a couple of times and it is no surprise if you see
Stuck With Each Other here if you are viewing my personal countdown.
