I have to agree here, OMAM's second album is wonderful. It is far better than their first, which had too much filler for my liking. It is more even and the emotional material on BTS was much more striking for me ("Hunger," "Black Water," "Organs," "I of the Storm"). In general, the critics didn't really loathe it or anything, it only did slightly less with acclaim than the first (though that admittedly doesn't matter much to me, and I work as a critic lol). FTP definitely suffered though.
My only issue with this album is that it lacks a standout track that pulls it altogether (the first had a couple, especially "Stubborn Love"). It is a bit like pleasant background music after a while.

This is the only comparison I see with OMAM as I had the same problem with their record. But overall, it is prety solid.
This album is typical Lumineers. I'm actually surprised that they managed to stay close to their signature sound and make a cohesive record. This is not as unique as their debut but really beautiful to listen to.
