But seriously. Why isn't it? Majority have Norse genetics, it's a very Northern country in relation to Europe and they have the same cold wet weather.

They're all Germanic sooooooo that's close enough I guess? Idk...

England always wanted to be on its own lane, I guess. But in all seriousness, I think it's because they do not share the same historical backgrounds.

I think it's because there's a bigger connection between the nordic countries. England is bigger than all the nordic countries together so it doesn't really need the "unity" with someone that the small nordic countries do + what katysus said. Wait. Being in the UK they already have that unity the Nordic countries do too, and they're much closer.

In that case the Netherlands and Germany should be considered Nordic countries too since they're all also Germanic. Nordic Countries are North Germanic, Germany is in the High German branch of Germanic, and Netherlands and England is Anglo-Saxon. So I guess you're only Nordic if you share the same North Germanic culture/language?

Do you mean economically? Because isn't Sweden alone like 6 times England?

Ok but Norway + Sweden are still wealthier and have a better quality of life

Because our country has had more than Scandinavian history. We've been built by Vikings, Germanics, the Romans, the French, Danes, Anglo-Saxons etc. Too much varied ancestry to be completely Nordic.

I'm also guessing it's more to do with the geopolitical definition than the geographic definition. UK may be more north than other european/non-Scandinavian countries but there was very little in common with history and migration.

England has had more Latin and Celtic influence than any of those countries. The Roman colonization and Norman invasion for instance. It's right next to France.

They don't really share any cultural ties with each other. England's been shaped by the Celts and Ancient Rome more so than any Scandinavian peoples.

Isn't it Scotland that has a connection to the Nordic countries rather than England?

Denmark's latitude can be compared to Scotland, but this is the lower limit of being Nordic.

Nordic countries are closer to the North Pole and have worse than Central European (e.g. Polish) winter conditions. The coldest part of the UK is like the warmest part of the Nordic countries.

Going to England doesn't make you feel like having to use studded tyres with steel spikes (it's illegal), meeting moose, elk, wolves, artic foxes, bears,... and seeing northern lights.

And the Vikings went to the UK and all the way down to Paris. The French gave the Vikings land (Duchy of Normandy) to be left alone by them.

That flag wouldn't fit with those other flags. England's cross is in the middle.
