The Vatican, however, said it had nothing to do with the invitation.
Father Federico Lombardi, the Pope's spokesman told the Italian news agency Ansa that the Academy of Social Sciences invited Sanders, not Pope Francis, and that His Holiness doesn't plan to give the senator an audience.
"For the moment there is no expectation that there will also be a meeting with the pope," Lombardi said.
The invitation didn't even come from the Vatican OMG.
It's like what asking what has Hillary done for LGBT around the world. It really makes no sense.
As a matter of fact... a lot...
She's gone into countries where homosexuality is criminalized and advocated for gay rights, fought for trans people to openly serve in the US military, etc.
Why are Bernie supporters actually thinking that Bernie talking at the Vatican somehow makes him better to serve as president?
One of the biggest political figures in the world support him. It's not your everyday endorsement. How often does the Pope get behind a candidate like this?
Not really. Because in terms of stances on women's issues, Hillary and Bernie are practically the same. However, Hillary has actually accomplished more for women, ESPECIALLY on a global level.
Which is great and I commend her for it, but I can't see why that'd make her more qualified to be elected POTUS? As long as y'all don't elect a former rapist or misogynist whose stances would hurt women in the US and around the world, you'll be fine.

Giselle was just making a point to commend Hillary for one of her many accomplishments. Then Bernie supporters tried to bring up the pope (for some reason) to counter-argue that...
She has plenty of other qualifications that would make great arguments for her as a great president.
It did come from the Vatican, they confirmed it earlier. Bernie never said it came directly from the Pope, which is what that refers to. He has only praised him. The Bots constantly trying to spin everything.
What's the obsession with having done something for women around the world though? What matters is what his stances on women related issues are today and what he plans to bring to the table during his presidency.
I do care about my what my president will do for people in countries other than ours, especially when the playing field world wide is still so heavily leveled against women Women are the biggest victims of global poverty, health crisis', education inequity and security issues. That is extremely important (not just to me) and it does alarm me if someone vying to be the head of the most powerful country in the world doesn't have substantial things to say on this. That's not an obsession, it's a valid concern. At least for globally minded people. But I suppose it wouldn't matter to Bernie supporters who are only concerned about free college and "breaking up the big banks!"

It's the ****ing Pope! This is the Vatican acknowledging Bernie as the candidate fit to tackle corruption and fight for peace.
The fact that y'all would be milking this endorsement if it was for Hillary is hilarious.
They're jealous and know it will have a big effect. They constantly brag about how this will be over after NY, meanwhile they seem just as nervous as Hillary does.
Why be so nervous if she apparently has the rest of these states in the bag?

He didn't get endorsed...
He was just invited to speak. Big deal. Hillary has done speeches all around the world. Glad to see Bernie get some recognition outside the states. That's good for him, but I'm not at all jealous.

Having a major hand in health, education and poverty around the world would make someone more qualified to President when you remember that they're um.... PRESIDENT? He's not running for Senate. He's going to have to deal with the entire world. He's going to have to deal with global matters. We give billions of dollars in aid for things like this, so I would like to know that he's well equipped. How would that NOT make someone more qualified?
