Amsterdam is amazing, youre sure to find something to do, its a beautiful quaint city and the people are great.. if u want a good smoke spot go to The Bulldog
I went there with my best friend last summer, it's really clean and safe in its center. There's a lot to walk and see, and you won't get bored. I did review the places we visited on tripadvisor, here's what I recommend:
- Our Lord in the Attic
- Willet-Holthuysen
- FOAM - Photography Museum
- Rembrandthuis
- Rijksmuseum
- Van Gogh Museum
- Hortus Botanicus
Avoid the churces, there's nothing on the inside, and the Hermitage Museum, which is labyrinthic and has a poor collection. The boat trip is nothing special either, it's what we call stuff for English tourists here in Italy. Also, I advise to buy the city card for the number on days you have to stay. To eat, I recommend the Café Langereis in front of the Hermitage. We loved it.
Go on a walking tour. There's a place that meets up every day in Dam Square (look for yellow umbrellas). It's pretty much free although they ask for a donation at the end - which is optional so you don't have to pay anything really. Amazing - 1.5 hours of walking but you get an in-depth history of the city.
