Drummer Dennis Davis has died after a cancer battle.
The New York drummer was perhaps best known for his work with David Bowie, joining his band in 1974.
The news was confirmed on Facebook by his friend Dan Atherton Snr, who wrote: "I am so saddened to announce the death of my very long-time friend Dennis Davis.
"Great friend, awesome drummer who played with the greats - Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Carlos Santana, Roy Ayers, David Bowie just to name a few.
"I'm so bewildered and hurt. Rest In Peace, my dear friend, until we meet again. I love you, man."
In March it was reported that Davis had stage 4 lung cancer and was in a hospice.
