Brazil is going through political upheaval, and a stagnating economy. It's pretty messed up that they gave them the World Cup and this in such a short time span. That'll be hard on any country. On top of that the water pollution is a major issue for athletes as many got sick. And there's zika.

They're pretty corrupt. And many wealthy countries don't even want to host it like Norway. The London Olympics was successful because they have the infrastructure in place and planned to use the new ones. Same with the Winter Olympics in the US.

They need to give it to countries that have venues built already and not put it in developing countries because that hurts those countries more.

I noticed the Zika thing is way too publicized and it's like we want to hear about the ways Brazil is failing. If you go to Brazil, it is HUGE, and not every state has the same issues. In fact, the Zika virus is not even that big of an issue south/west of the area. As for the spill, again, one area. Yet, as already commented, there's very little publicity about going to brazil for olympics as a positive.
