I already knew this and I don't care, I don't use my iPhone to get top quality audio and anyone who truly cares about audio quality wouldn't either.

No one who isn't spending $200+ on headphones (excl. Beats and Bose) is going to notice a real difference in audio quality.

Apple is the future and I love them and it'd be interesting to see how this works but they should know that people aren't going to accept this idea lightly. I'm pretty sure though all people against it will be eating their words in 3 years or less.

Can't watch the video right now, but I'm curious if they addressed a few issues?

- not being able to charge your phone and listen to music simultaneously

- the remedy for those who use the auxiliary with iphone to play music in the car

This video is pointless for two big reasons.

1. The better integrated DACs built into the higher end phones such as the ones in iPhones, the Galaxy S devices etc and the Wolfsons used in a few Android devices are more than good enough for most people's headphones. INCLUDING entry-mid level Studio headphones such as the ATH-M50s he mentioned in the video. This is the same reason most people don't recommend you buying a separate DAC for your PC in 90% of cases, and the people with headphones nice enough to get some benefit from one know about things like DACs to begin with.

2. This is the most important reason this argument is stupid. THERE ARE ALREADY VARIOUS PORTABLE DACS AT VARIOUS PRICE RANGES THAT 99% OF PEOPLE DON'T NEED ANYWAY BECAUSE THEIR HEADPHONES AREN'T NICE ENOUGH TO NEED ONE BUT FOR THE 1% THAT DO THEY ARE ALREADY HERE

BT audio is actually the least reliable and lowest quality stream you can get at the moment. It slays when it comes to portability and lack of wires to tear, but the audio quality and consistency is iffy at best, even on "high end" BT headphones. It's most definitely the future of listening, but the technology is nowhere near the level of existing wired connections.

For my low end BT headset that I bought for 30 dollars on Amazon, the quality and sound is very solid and it's virtually waterproof. It's also lasted me four years now. Besides, there's very few people who can tell the difference between high quality headsets versus regular or even low end ones.

I wasn't referring to your individual experience with headphones. You are right to assume that most people cannot tell the difference, because most people do not own good headphones, nor do they know what to listen for. I am referring to the statistical fact that BT headphones are nowhere near on par with even midrange corded headphones.

However, I do not agree with Apple using their proprietary connection port for this. They should be using USB 3.0 at this point if they really want people to buy brand new headphones. Macs don't even have a Lightning connector, so it would be impossible to hook them up to any existing Apple computer. HOWEVER, it would be awesome if Apple includes the magnetic Smart Connector in the iPhone 7 (leaked photos show its there), allowing some kind of magnet-like yet paper thin interface that they hopefully open source to the rest of the industry.

Ew. Bluetooth has lower quality, and earbuds suck.

You won't need to charge your headphones

And people being like "omg how am I going to charge and listen at the same time" etc your phone will charge when plugged into digital speakers etc. and unless you don't know how to make your phone last, there's no need to have your phone charging while you listen.

My 6+ has currently lasted me two days. It's on 1% now but it's the end of the second day.

Get a decent phone and it won't even enter your mind. I don't even think I'll upgrade my 6+ when the 7 comes out unless the battery is majorly bigger. This phone has served me well.

True tea. Unless you're paying for higher range headphones with changeable wires, more low-end ear buds are ****. 3.5 pins aren't known to be sturdy connections, so there's a huge chance for them to improve quality of sound and have a sturdier connection.
