Here in Italy consent age is 14, which seems reasonable to me, since at 14 you should know what you're doing. I'm simply shocked that it's up to 18 in some US states!

What's your opinion on it?

In my state it's 15 and I'm indifferent about it.

It's 16 in the UK and I think that's reasonable

I think for the US 18 makes sense because of how our educational system is set up, such that high schoolers are still basically children, and you're not 18 till sometime during your senior year.

Other countries, perhaps lower.

14 is definitely too young as, although teens start havng sexual intercourse at that age between them, which is totally normal, a 14 yo having sex with a 20+ yo is not ok imo.

And 18 is too old, teens start their sexual lives WAY before that nowadays.

Well a number of states have closeness of age exceptions, where say a 16 year old could have sex with an 18 year old but not a 50 year old.

Personally I think it's icky in America even where it might be legal for a 16 year old to have sex with a 50 year old. But that's me.
