I know Subway has WAY more stores WW but I wonder if a lot of them are in the U.S. For example we have 11 subways in my town of like 60k
Also, I feel like McDonalds is sort of a symbol of American overindulgence and is therefore looked down upon in other countries, whereas Subway is seen as cleaner, more healthy, and more fresh (but as someone who has worked there for like 3 yrs, trust me, it's not all that true.)
I don't even know what Subway is, i thought it's kind of train or something. And we have McD everywhere here in Indonesia. KFC > McD > Pizza Hut > Dunkin Donuts > Starbucks (in term of globallness here)
Subway is technically more prevalent, but McDonald's is more known and is better. Don't think that Subway is in any way more natural and less processed than its rival; they are just as bad when it comes to over processed crap.

This is true. "Eat fresh" is a joke.
The only thing we actually prepare at Subway is tomatoes, cucumbers and green peppers almost everything else comes in a bag that we just put in containers
So if McDonalds is more global, yet Subway is more popular in the US (and overall), perhaps it should be our iconic restaurant while the rest of the world gets McDonalds.

The only veggies I put on my subway are tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and avocados (Ik not all are veggie). I guess I'm good.
