I think the sales are ok. It is what it is. I actually think they are quite realistic all things considered. I wonder if the label expected to do the bare minimum, piggyback ex-1D hype, and reap the awards.
In general I can handle low sales (I love Kelly Rowland, Toya, Michelle W, Troye Sivan, etc.) if that is ultimately whats going to happen, but in this instance it should have been bigger than how it turned out. It's just I don't like when artists dissappear during release week, deliver no news, and become a clothes horse ala Zayn.
Record deals are quite difficult to get/keep so it's a little disappointing to see an artist squander golden ops - particularly one who has been warmly welcolmed by his peers and the industry critics (radio etc.).
I dont think sales matter anyway. The music is good, he completely shed his boyband image, gained new mature fans. He can grow more mature rather than go into oblivion as he grows up (most boybands end up like that)
so people will keep checking him for his new material.
I still think he doesnt have a good stage presence. I feel he's going the lana del rey route. concentrating on the sound rather than being a big pop star
He's almost certainly got the number 1 album and the sales tbf aren't bad IMO. It'll be interesting to see where this falls to next week. Lukas Graham may get the number 1 next week; it's currently discounted to $7.99.
I think they should start sending a second single to some of the stations.
