Madonna’s damaged brand has also negatively impacted the perception of the younger collaborators on her Rebel Heart album. Diplo, Avicii and Nicki Minaj were rated less culturally relevant amongst millennials who are aware of their collaborations with Madonna.

Older generations who once admired her brand are losing faith too. Professor Sehdev, who advises brands on corporate endorsements using a research-based approach to quantify celebrity influence, also found a 23 per cent decline in generation X-ers who once agreed that Madonna was an “iconic cultural force”.

“Madonna’s desperate attempts for attention have damaged her legacy. 1980s media manipulation tactics simply don’t work any more and turn off younger audiences. This is not about Madonna’s age and her sexual image but about her being perceived as inauthentic.”

Well I don't have to make polls & studies and know this. It's really obvious. Just look at her sales and compare them for example with Barbra Streisand's latest sales. If Madonna continued to do music she did during 90's she would have much bigger acclaim, legacy and recpect. Like, what is gonna people think after seeing ****in' Bitch I'm Madonna video?

But I think it's not all so negative, she still has her pre-30 years old gays I think, and she tours the world.

"Desperately trying to stay relevant" by doing what exactly — not conforming to the expected standard of what older women can and can't do? She is doing nothing that the 20-something pop girls aren't doing, except she is doing what they do a hell of a lot better than they are, but of course she gets no recognition and when she jokes around on stage for the first time in literally a decade, after a flawless decade of hard work, she's falsely labeled as having a "drunk meltdown." Does this happen to U2? The Rolling Stones? Mick Jagger? Iggy Pop (who looks AWUL but is still accepted as cool??).

If Madonna were a man, she would be beloved.

Madonna is trying to prove a point. She's trying to be the ageless popstar. Her career since the HC era (so, ever since she turned 50) is one long effort to go against the policy that FEMALE popstars need to just sit down and either sing ballads or retire after a certain age. The execution is sometimes sloppy, ill advised and messy, but the message behind it is strong and only she would go for it this restlessly. For that, I applaud her

There's nothing subversive about Madonna anymore outside of her existence herself as 50+ year old woman in pop. That's why she's seen as desperate.
