Flying While Black? Black Lives Matter Supporter Kicked Off American Airlines Flight

Imani Cezanne posted the accusations on Twitter early Monday as she detailed the Mar. 26 incident. Cezanne claimed she was escorted off the plane because a flight attendant felt threatened by the Black Lives Matter shirt she was wearing.

Cezanne posted her ordeal on Twitter claiming she had never experienced such as racism as when she was escorted from the aircraft

The poet and activist posted her ordeal on her Twitter page and said it started when the passenger seated next to her in the exit row had to be moved because they did not speak English.

Cezanne posted: 'After boarding my flight I sit in an exit row. The couple across the aisle from me does not speak English.

'They are removed from their seats because "If you don't speak English you can't sit in an exit row." I ask why.

'Flight Attendant says that if she is unable to explain procedure, she must seat someone else in the exit row. Understood.

'While speaking with the woman next to me about my concerns I was *interrupted* by FA and asked "Are you going to be a problem?"

'Why would she ask me that? Is that an appropriate way to speak to a customer who is calmly having a conversation with someone?'

Cezanne claims that the flight attendant then stormed off and returned with a manager who wanted her to be escorted from the plane.

She added: 'The manager comes to escort me off of the plane. I ask why. She says "because my flight attendant feels threatened."

He said: 'An unruly passenger was removed from American Eagle Flight 5192, operated by PSA Airlines, from Charlotte to Atlanta due to failure to comply with crew member instructions.

'The passenger refused to exit aircraft when asked, so local law enforcement was called. We will work with the customer to resolve the issue. American Airlines values diversity and we do not discriminate for any reason.'

1) The emergency exit has to have english speaking language (If it's in an english speaking majority country) I think to help guide people or something I might be wrong but i remember reading about it

2) Pathetic and disgusting if she is telling the truth

Something doesn't add up though, I mean how did she know that the main reason the flight attendant felt threatened about her was because of the shirt she was wearing? According to the article the flight attendant asked her if she would be a problem and then left to to apparently come back with the manager who said that the flight attendant felt threatened by her. I don't see where it's linked to what she was wearing.

She was probably being extra. I've seen people not being allowed to board if they were being annoying about nothing and/or discussing with the personal and I support it. I don't want someone being a pain in the ass whole flight when I pay a lot for the ticket

If this girl was doing absolutely nothing, then why would the flight attendant come up to her in the first place. She's doing her job first and foremost. There is no way she looked at her shirt and decided to add more unnecessary stress to this flight by trying to get this woman kicked off just because she's part of BLM. It makes no sense what so ever. Even then this is literally this woman's twitter account of what happened and there is no evidence besides her perceptions of events. And the fact that she said she was scared of her life just for being escorted off a plane(with dozens of people watching) by two white cops. Get real.

This tbh. I'm not here for writing her off as a liar from the get-go, but I'd like to know exactly what she was saying and how she was saying it before the FA got involved. It's likely that she was doing much more than "just discussing" and she might have even been overly obnoxious about it. Of course, even if that's the case, that's no reason to feel "threatened" by her. It goes back to how a black person can never get loud or upset lest everyone feel like their lives are in danger.

But that's another issue entirely. As it stands now, I have no idea how this story has anything to do with BLM.

Anyone who is out and proud about supporting Black Lives Matter will have a hard time being taken seriously when they tell stories like this. It's unfortunate but that's just how people are nowadays.

I'm not calling her a liar outright because she did admit her extraness while explaining the situation, but like stop being extra in this day and age on an airplane.

She wasn't removed because she was black, she was removed because she was declared a nuisance and possibly a threat to travel. Her saying that she was removed because she was "flying while black" undermines the cause she's supporting because it just looks like she's using it as a blanket excuse. It takes two to tango and escalate any argument but don't pick a disagreement with the staff on an airplane.

Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy tbh. In that she was probably acting a fool, and attributed her BOOT to the shirt.

No manager (who wants to remain so) is going to risk a civil rights lawsuit to pacify a racists employee.
