Not like a stateless person at all. He has the Egyptian nationality. Most countries, including Egypt, will only allow a citizen to renounce his nationality if its guaranteed that he will get another one.
Chances are his butt is getting deported soon. ETA: Well after he serves his sentence in Cyprus, or if they give up jurisdiction, somewhere else.
